This image shows a storm front moving across an area of the north pole populated with hundreds of small dark sand dunes. The north polar region contains large regions of sand dunes, perhaps providing the some of the material raised into these clouds. Water ice clouds will be somewhat transparent, however dust clouds will completely obscure the surface.
